Moneyfields FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of shot-stopper Hannah Haughton, who joins Karl Watson’s side ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The highly sought-after goalkeeper departs Portsmouth FC Women after a successful six-and-a-half-year spell under Jay Sadler.

Haughton endured a challenging period last season due to a long-term shoulder injury, sustained during training in October. However, the England Beach Soccer international has now returned to full fitness and is ready to hit the ground running in pre-season, which kicks off at 2pm on July 20th, when we host Exeter City Women at the John Jenkins Stadium.

No stranger to silverware, Hannah has enjoyed success at both club and international level. She was part of the England side that lifted the Euro Beach Soccer Championship in 2021 and played a pivotal role in Portsmouth’s 2023/24 National League South title-winning campaign, earning promotion to the Women’s Championship (now known as WSL2). She is also a two-time Hampshire Cup winner.

During her time at Portsmouth, Haughton made history by becoming the first-ever women’s player to sign a professional contract with the club. Since joining in 2018, she kept an impressive 61 clean sheets in 138 appearances.

Reflecting on her move, Hannah said, “It’s a fresh start. I had a really difficult injury last season, and I left a club I’d been at for nearly seven years. But it’s great to be back on the pitch and at a club that’s ambitious and wants to move forward.”

Asked why Karl Watson’s project appealed to her, she added, “I’ll keep it simple — I like winning. Karl wants to win the league, and this club deserves to be in tier three. They’ve been pushing for it the last few seasons, and hopefully this year we can find that edge to get promoted.”

On her mentality, Haughton shared, “It’s about giving 110% in training, doing the right things off the pitch, including the psychological side — all of those aspects. I hope I can influence others to help push us forward and win this league.”

Hannah also had a message for the Moneys supporters, “I can’t wait to see you all at the first home game, hopefully make my debut, and start what I hope will be a successful season.”

First Team Manager Karl Watson added, “Hannah brings a wealth of experience not just to the goalkeeping department, but to the squad as a whole. She’s a serial winner and, like all of us, hates losing. Bringing her in is a real statement of intent for what’s shaping up to be an exciting season.”

“I’m sure she’ll be ready and raring to go for pre-season, and we’re looking forward to welcoming her into the Moneys family.”

Hannah will be hoping to make her debut during our pre-season programme, starting with Exeter City at the John Jenkins Stadium on Sunday, July 20th (KO 2pm).
