In the FA Trophy we have another home tie against Thame United of the Southern League Central Division on Saturday 6 September.

Our Under-18s kick-off their FA Youth Cup campaign against Winchester City at the JJ, week commencing Monday 1 September. The winner of this tie will host either Havant & Waterlooville or Gosport Borough, week commencing Monday 15 September.

Last season Moneys fell at the first hurdle in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, bowing out against AFC Stoneham and Hayes & Yeading United, both games played at the John Jenkins.

In recent years the FA Cup has been hit or miss, with success against Step 4 sides Westbury United and Hamworthy United, set up a tie away at Larkhall Athletic where Moneys succumbed to defeat missing out on a potential home tie to Bath City in 2023/24.

The 2022/23 season’s FA Cup campaign started off in emphatic fashion, with a 5-0 win at Bemerton Heath Harlequins with Cal Laycock scoring all 5. The FA Cup excitement ended soon after, going onto lose to Wimborne Town in the next round.

Much like the 2024/25 FA Cup, Moneys were knocked out in the Extra-Preliminary Round at home to AFC Stoneham in 2021/22.

In the 2020/21 and 2019/20 the team reached the 2nd Qualifying Round, beating Camberley Town and Aylesbury United, losing to Cray Wanderers in 2020/21 and in 2019/20 progressing against Reading City and VCD Athletic, losing out to Whyteleafe at the next stage.

Moneys most successful FA Cup campaign came in the 2018/19 season, where the team made the 3rd Qualifying Round, eventually losing to Worthing 3-2 at Dover Road, with Conor Bailey scoring one of the goals of the Competition that season with a effort from the half-way line. Prior to this Moneys had seen off Andover New Street, Thamesmead Town and Hayes & Yeading United.

Meanwhile in the FA Trophy, last season was Moneyfields first Trophy game since the 2020/21 season. Wins against Basingstoke Town and a dramatic comeback versus Kidlington set up a home tie against Truro City where James Green [now of Sky Sports] reported back to the BT Sports studio live, disappointingly Moneys lost the game, but were 1-0 up after only a few minutes via a goal from the “King of Dover Road” Steve Hutchings.

2019/20 Moneys went out in the Extra-Preliminary Round away to Bristol Manor Farm, but made the Preliminary Round the previous season [2018/19] after seeing off Evesham United in the Extra-Preliminary Round, only to be beaten by Cinderford Town at the following stage.

A replay defeat to Cray Wanderers saw Moneys exit the competition in the 2nd Qualifying Round, after wins in the rounds before against Bideford and Yate Town.

In the FA Youth Cup the Under-18s did have slightly more success, progressing past the first stage, defeating Christchurch 4-0 at home, before being defeated by Havant & Waterlooville in the following round.
