Moneyfields FC Women are delighted to announce two exciting additions to our Women’s Reserve Team coaching staff ahead of the upcoming season. We warmly welcome Claire Haskett and Paul Waters, who join Head Coach James Jenkins in shaping the future of our reserve squad with a shared passion for development, positivity, and progress.

Claire Haskett Joins as Assistant Coach

Claire Haskett brings a wealth of experience and a deeply personal coaching philosophy rooted in development and inclusivity. A lifelong footballer, Claire began playing competitively at the age of nine. Her coaching journey was sparked by challenging personal experiences as a player—motivating her to become the kind of coach she once needed.

Having founded and led Cowplain Ladies in the Hampshire League, Claire has built a team from the ground up and fostered an environment centred on growth, positivity, and player empowerment. She holds a UEFA C licence, is currently working towards her UEFA B, and also coaches with the Chelsea Foundation and Pompey ITC. In addition, she’s actively engaged in coach development networks like the Premier League Coach Index.

Claire’s coaching philosophy is clear: “Know your players, coach to their strengths, and create an environment where they can thrive.” She’s not a coach who imposes rigid systems, but rather adapts her strategies to bring out the best in every individual—particularly embracing the “chaos” of transitional moments in the game, where quick thinking and adaptability shine.

When asked what drew her to Moneyfields, Claire was quick to answer: “If you’re from Portsmouth, you know Moneyfields. I’ve seen the progress the club has made, and when the opportunity came, I was really excited to be part of something so special.”

Her short-term goals focus on building strong relationships with the players and embedding the club’s footballing philosophy into training and matchdays. Long-term, Claire is committed to supporting players in stepping up to the first team and helping the reserves rise in the league.

Claire also recognises the importance of representation: “Bringing a female face to the coaching team matters. It’s important that players have someone they can talk to and relate to—especially in the women’s game.”

With values like respect, effort, teamwork, and enjoyment at the heart of her approach, Claire is poised to make a lasting impact both on and off the pitch.

Paul Waters Joins Coaching Staff

Joining Claire and James is Paul Waters, whose coaching experience and high-energy football philosophy make him a fantastic addition to the reserve setup. Paul comes from a strong grassroots background, having coached players across various age groups and abilities, always with a focus on development, discipline, and positive culture.

Off the pitch, Paul works full-time as a Protect Manager at Portsmouth Naval Base—a role that requires communication, leadership, and strategic thinking, all of which translate seamlessly into the coaching arena. He’s also a devoted family man, with a strong support system that allows him to pursue his coaching journey. His youngest, just four years old, is already sport-mad and thrilled to be part of the Moneyfields family.

Paul holds a UEFA C licence and is preparing to undertake his UEFA B. His commitment to growth, both for himself and his players, aligns perfectly with the club’s ethos.

A passionate advocate for high-intensity football, Paul wants his teams to press hard, move the ball quickly, and apply constant pressure. “It’s hard work, but it creates a brand of football that’s exciting to play and to watch,” he explains. He encourages bravery and selflessness, and puts team values at the heart of everything he does.

Paul emphasizes the importance of understanding players on an individual level—tailoring his approach to suit each player’s personality, goals, and role on the pitch. He’s especially focused on helping players progress through the club and into the first team.

“I’m absolutely delighted to be here and proud to be part of this club,” Paul says. “I’m ready to work hard, support the players, and contribute to something really special at Moneyfields.”

His immediate priorities include building relationships within the squad, integrating smoothly into the club environment, and supporting a successful pre-season. Long-term, Paul hopes to grow within the club, learn from his colleagues, and help foster a competitive, supportive culture.

A Bright Future Ahead

The appointments of Claire Haskett and Paul Waters signal Moneyfields FC Women’s continued commitment to developing players and building a strong, values-led coaching team. With their combined experience, enthusiasm, and vision, both coaches are set to play a crucial role in the club’s growth this season and beyond.

We’re thrilled to welcome Claire and Paul to the Moneys family. Let’s give them a warm welcome—and an exciting season ahead!
