First Team
FA Cup Extra-Preliminary Sat 2 August John Jenkins Stadium
Moneyfields
Brockenhurst
15:00

Tomorrow afternoon Moneys kick-off their 2025/26 season, as Brockenhurst are the visitors to the JJ in the FA Cup.

Following on from a strong pre-season, and with Brockenhurst playing a Step below in the Wessex Premier Divison, Moneys would be considered favourites going into this fixture. Although as per last season, we know this isn’t necessarily the case, as we were knocked out by Wessex Premier side AFC Stoneham in the same round.

An entertaining game will be expected with a decent Brockenhurst side looking to bounce back from their opening day League defeat, and Moneys looking for a winning start under new management. Both teams have all to play for, not only to progress into the next round but to either get back on track, or to start off on the right foot, with this game ensuring entertaining and attacking football from the get go.

Moneys:
Callum Glen’s side come into the game off the back of a fairly successful pre-season winning 4 [vs Aldershot Town XI, Fleetlands, Portsmouth XI, Abbey Rangers], drawing 1 [vs Andover New Street] and losing just the once [vs Chichester City] in the summer schedule.

Meanwhile there has been much upheaval within the squad over the past few months, with plenty of new faces joining the side.

With Glenn Turnbull becoming Director of Football, our new Manager, Callum Glen, bought in a brand new backroom team consisting of, Graham Purser [Assistant Manager], Terry Cox [Lead Coach], Danny Phillips [GK Coach] and retaining Rob Pattison [Head Physio] and Harriet Millar [Sports Therapist].

On the signing front, Callum Smart, Tom Cain, Tom Jeffes, Ethan Gee, Jordan Pile, Lawrence Cooper and James Franklyn all committed to stay at the club prior to the team returning to pre-season training.

Then the new signing started to arrive; Yumo Wan [Defender], Rudi Blankson [Forward] and Kaleem Haitham [Forward] joined us right at the start of pre-season, along with Louis Gates [Midfielder] . Midway through July, two Petersfield Town players followed their old manager over to the JJ, with Asad Ssemwogerere [Forward] and Keiran Alcock [Defender] joining the club. Two midfielders put pen to paper prior to our game with Portsmouth, as Mikey O’Connell and ex-Portsmouth player, Adam Payce joined the ranks, followed by Kevin Ngobmi [Forward] and Faris Khallouqi [Midfielder] the next week.

We recently announced the signing of ex-Brockenhurst forward Karol Skoczen and we are hopeful of 1 or 2 more faces joining the Club in the next 24 hours. So keep an eye on our socials to find out more.

Brockenhurst:
Last season was a season of change at Grigg Lane, as it was the first in over 10 years that former manager Pat McManus wasn’t in charge of the First Team. Danny Ackland was the man chosen to follow in Pat’s footsteps.

The team finished in 16th place, although there were some impressive results throughout the season, including a penalty shoot-out win over AFC Portchester in the Hampshire Senior Cup, and 2-1 wins over Baffins Milton Rovers, Hamble Club and Portland United.

Pre-Season has been a fairly successful one, with Danny Ackland’s side defeating Hampshire League side Hedge End Rangers 2-0 and Isthmian League South-Central team Binfield 2-1, while suffering defeat to Southern Premier Division outfit, Poole Town. Brocks final pre-season fixture against Lymington Town, was abandoned in the opening 15 minutes due to a serious injury to Kieran O’Donnell.

They kicked off their Wessex Premier Division campaign on Tuesday night at home to Petersfield Town and were  on the wrong end of a 3-0 scoreline.

Previous Meetings:
You only have to go back to the 2023/24 season to find the last time the two sides met. The last time was in April 2024 at Grigg Lane, where Moneys came from 3-0 down at Half-Time to secure a share of the points with a Ryan Pennery [2] and Cal Laycock getting on the scoresheet. Freddie Bullard, Sami Makhloufi and Marcelo Rossi scoring for the Brock.

During the 2023/24 season both sides played out what is believed to be the first Sunday fixture in Wessex League history, with Moneys winning 2-1 at Oakland Park, home of Chichester City. Toby Bailey netted a 94th minute consolation goal, after second-half goals from Tom Jeffes and Ryan Pennery put Moneys ahead.

Ones to Watch:
Brandon Channel: The past two season the central-midfielder has been a regular at Grigg Lane since joining from Christchurch, shortly after the start of the 2023/24 season. And has become a regular in the side. The tough tackling midfielder has appeared over 50 times for Brockenhurst, finding the net twice.

Mitch Speechley-Price: Speechley-Price first joined Brockenhurst back in 2016 signing from then Wessex side Team Solent. The forward has gone on to play around 200 game for Brock, scoring in excess of 70 goals. Last season he was at AFC Stoneham and Bashley before re-joining Brockenhurst this summer.

Steve Walker: Walker, a highly experienced central-defender, who can list the likes of Bashley, Dorchester Town and Salisbury as some of his former clubs, joined Danny Ackland’s Brockenhurst this summer. Having played over 100 Step 4 games, he will provide great experience to the Brock side for the season ahead.
