Moneyfields Women return to competitive action this weekend as they welcome Bridgwater United to the John Jenkins Stadium in the opening round of the FA Women’s National League Division One South West. Both sides will be eager to begin their campaigns with a strong performance and three points.
Moneys head into the new season on the back of a productive pre-season programme, testing themselves against strong opposition including Dartford, Exeter City, Leyton Orient, Fulham, and Norwich City. Those fixtures provided valuable preparation and cohesion for Karl Watson’s squad.
The first-team manager expressed his excitement at the return of league football, “Out of season’s the most exhausting, tiring part of the year for a manager. We’re just busting to get going now. Everybody’s had a gut load of pre-season — let’s just get the season started.”
In the build-up to the season opener, Moneyfields confirmed another new addition to the squad with the signing of versatile defender Dream Surin from Southampton FC. Speaking about her move and the challenge of breaking into the starting eleven, Surin said:
“The competition in the squad has really stood out to me — everyone pushes each other and works hard every session. I’m excited to be a part of this team and can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
She joins a strong group of fresh faces for the Moneys faithful to get behind this season, including Hannah Haughton, Mia King, Daisy Beard, Tierney Scott, and newly appointed captain Ali Hall. Each arrival adds quality, experience, and renewed energy to the squad.

There is also a welcome return for Rosalia Sitarz, whose comeback is set to provide further strength and depth to the team.
Bridgwater United arrive with a long and storied history. The club can trace its roots back to 1990 when it was founded as Yetminster Ladies. Over the years, it has evolved through several identities — Sherborne Ladies, Yeovil Town Ladies, Yeovil Town Women, and Yeovil United — before merging with Bridgwater Town in 2021 to form its present name.

At the start of the season, it’s anyone’s game, anyone’s table. It’s going to be a fierce one — hopefully we can repeat last year’s result.”
