Tayo Singerr has joined Moneyfields on an initial one-month loan from EFL Championship side and our local neighbours, Portsmouth.
Singerr joins Callum Glen’s squad, having only this month scored on his full senior debut for Pompey at Fratton Park, infront of the Fratton End against Reading in the EFL Cup. Having come on as a 70th minute substitute as Pompey were losing 0-2, a cross from Segecic was headed well by Tayo for a late 93rd minute goal. Sadly, it was just a consolation, as John Mousinho’s blues crashed out of the EFL Cup at the first stage.
On the noise from the Fratton faithful and the ball hitting the back of the net, Tayo said, “I’ve never felt anything like it, it’s what you dream of when you’re a young boy.”
Originally from North London, Tayo, now in his second year as a Pompey Academy player, spoke how his Academy coaches said of him joining Moneyfields that, “a good way for him to develop is to play in a men’s league, and Moneyfields is a good step up.”
Last season Moneyfields had wing-back Ciaran Martin on loan from Pompey for the majority of the season, as he flourished in Glenn Turnbull’s side. Developing brilliantly through the campaign, his confidence and new found ability both defensively and going forward, had him making a matchday squad in January for John Mousinho’s blues in the FA Cup. Martin spoke to Singerr on his time here and Tayo reports that he said, “its a good group of boys, and he managed to develop here, so I’m looking forward to it.”
Tayo goes straight into the squad for tomorrows game away at Binfield in the Isthmian League South Central Division match.
