Moneys travelled to Berkshire in hope of getting back on track following 4 without a win, and a new attacking option was brought into the squad to help with this. The new signing on loan from Pompey, Tayo Singerr, was brought straight into the starting eleven.
Lawrence Cooper nearly set Moneys up for a fantastic start as his cross was near perfect for James Franklyn at the back post, but he couldn’t quite head it on target, and the on-rushing Singerr was beaten to the ball by the Binfield defender.
Moneys woes in defence then showed their weaknesses again sadly, as an 8 minute spell saw us concede 3 goals between the 13th and 21st minute.
Toby Thompson gave Binfield the lead converting from a cross that evaded the Moneys keeper. Then Amari Fashanu looped a cross-cum-shot looped over Logan Gouge in goal. The third goal was a more acceptable goal to concede but still not the best defending as Logan Coles finished well.
Then came the fightback. Tayo burst into the box and for a second time in a short spell of time, he was brought down in the box. This time round the ref pointed to the spot. Rudi Blankson picked up the ball and dispatched the penalty to the keepers left on 26 minutes.
Just after half an hour, Franko was played into the edge of the box and was able to square the ball onto the top of the six yard box. Tayo Singerr was there to meet it and put the ball away to score his debut goal and get us back to just a goal back for half time.
Half time – Binfield 3-2 Moneyfields
The first 15 of the second half was a fairly scrappy affair. Mikey O’Connell coming on for Lawrence Cooper on 58 minutes was the first attempt to shake things up by the Moneys bench. That was followed 10 minutes later as Kieran Alcock came on for Ibrahim Busari, who looked to have taken a knock.
Moneys were generally better in the second half and had looked threatening but it was Binfield who scored next. Another freekick into the box wasn’t dealt with, and Ethan Lindo pounced on the loose ball to make it 4-2 to the hosts. Shortly after that goal, Asad came on for Faris.
After that, Moneys created chance after chance. Rudi had a sighter from the outside of the box that went close, but it took until the 86th minute for a handball in the box and a penalty to be awarded in order for Moneys to score. Rudi again stepped up and went the same way as the first half, to bring it back to 4-3.
Again Moneys stayed on top. A cross came in to Asad for one chance to make it 4-4, but he couldn’t connect. But then a fantastic passing move started with Rudi and ended with him. He passed out left to substitute Kieran Alcock, who passed further left to an overlapping Franko. He then is met by screams from Rudi of, “PULL IT.” Franko pulled it back and found Rudi, who finished it fantastically and got us back to 4-4 and to complete his hat-trick.
There was even time for one last chance where Moneys could have won, but a fingertip save from Binfield’s keeper Fubler, kept it at 4-4. Yet another ridiculous game that for the neutral would have been a tremendous days entertainment.
