This Sunday, Moneyfields FC Women head east along the M27 into West Sussex, where they’ll face Worthing FC in their fourth FA Women’s National League Division One South West fixture of the season. Kick-off is set for 3:00 pm at The Sussex Transport Community Stadium, Woodside Road.

Karl Watson’s side arrive full of confidence after a stunning 9-2 victory over Abingdon United last weekend, a result that stretched their unbeaten league run and added further momentum to an already impressive start. Goals coming from Shannon Albuery (6′), Beth Burgess (15′), Dream Surin (18′, 86′), Ali Hall (21′, 63′), Megan Fox (56′, +90′), and Daisy Beard (80′). Abingdon mounted a brief comeback in the first half through Molly Lygo, who scored twice just before half-time and shortly after, but Moneys regained control in the second half and sealed a dominant win.

League Standings

Moneyfields currently sit third in the table on 10 points, level with Bristol Rovers (2nd) but behind on goal difference, and just two points adrift of leaders Swindon Town.

Opposition Overview

Worthing, managed by Jesús Cordon, are 11th in the table with three points to their name. Their only win came on the opening day in a dramatic 5-4 triumph over Portishead Town. Since then, results have been tough:

1-2 vs Bournemouth Sports (a)
0-3 vs Maidenhead United (a)
0-9 vs Bristol Rovers (h)

Last season, the Rebels finished 5th on 38 points, ten behind Moneyfields, who were runners-up with 48.

Cordon has had to rebuild after losing key players in the summer, including Danielle Rowe (to Lewes in Tier 3) and Tierney Scott, now with Moneys after finishing as Worthing’s top scorer last year.

To strengthen, the Rebels have brought in forwards Skye Bacon, Jasmine Smith, Oceana Adams, and Amber Hazlewood, midfielders Sophia Wickenden and Laila Malcolm, defenders Grace Jarrett and Tilly Jones, plus goalkeeper Jacqui Goldsmith (on loan from Fulham).
