Tierney Scott bags a brace against Bournemouth Sports while opening her Moneyfields account for the season.

In Moneys’ penultimate game of Group E yesterday, which saw Karl Watson’s side run out 3-0 winners and finish the group second, Scott managed to bag two goals to help put Money’s into the hat for the next round of FAWNL Cup or Plate.

The Moneys attacker joined in the summer from Worthing, off the back of being the second top goal scorer in the FAWNL South West last season, behind AFC Bournemouth’s Jenna Markham and Moneyfields’ own Shannon Albuery, who were joint first.

The former Pompey forward has only started two games so far this season, along with a few cameos from the bench, but it was Scott’s impact against Bournemouth Sports yesterday in a 3-0 win, where she bagged a brace, that catches the eye.

Tierney believes: “It’s been a long time coming, after the goal being disallowed last week for offside, today I’m feeling great, really, really happy.

I haven’t actually played the nine since I was 17, so it’s definitely something I had to adapt to, but up front is the minutes I was given today, and I just tried to do whatever I can with it.”

When asked about getting her first 90 minutes of the season, Scott said: “My legs hurt, that’s for sure! But really happy, I’ve been waiting for that as well, I just want to play, so I’m really happy about that.”

Scott thinks that she can take yesterday’s performance going into the rest of the season: “Into the FA Cup next week hopefully, and I’ve proved myself today, carry on scoring goals and playing well, and hopefully it can be a positive season.”

First-team manager Karl Watson adds: “It was a chance for players that needed minutes in their legs to get those minutes, and players like Tierney took their chance today, but those players have got to keep going and working hard.”
