Moneys:
Moneys return to action after 11 days with no game, to kick off a packed October with 7 games currently scheduled across the month. October starts with back to back home games against Binfield on Saturday 4th and Horndean on Saturday 11th.

With Tayo Singerr’s loan from Portsmouth being extended in the week, it is the kind of good news that will hopefully give the squad a boost, along with some other signings incoming during the week to help boost the squad. Injuries are mounting now, with first team regulars Callum Smart (knee), Adam Payce (foot), Jordan Pile (shoulder) and Rudi Blankson (knee) all likely to miss Saturdays game.

Our last outing was the narrow 0-1 loss to Egham Town. A depleted squad looked to carry on from the previous success against Bognor, in the 3-2 comeback win 7 days prior. Egham’s Jordi Ebanda got the goal for ‘the Sarnies’ in a tight game that did see Moneys defence look much more solid compared to recent outings, but for only the second time this season, Moneys failed to get on the scoresheet.

The game a week prior was another entertaining thriller as Moneys came from 0-2 down, to take all 3 points in the first ever competitive meeting with Bognor Regis Town. Bognor went ahead with goals from Dembele and Laycock. However goals from Rudi Blankson, Faris Khallouqi and Louis Gates got Moneys back to winning ways with a 3-2 full time score.

Binfield:
Binfield FC first played in 1892, during the reign of Queen Victoria, making them one of the oldest Association Football clubs in the world! The team comprised of young men from the local brickworks and those who worked on the land around Binfield.

The 2020/21 season will, of course, be remembered by all at Binfield for their amazing run in the Buildbase FA Vase when playing every game behind closed doors bar one and all away from home, they managed to reach the Final at Wembley. They came up against a very good Warrington Rylands side and narrowly lost 3-2.

Binfield have had a mixed campaign so far and come into this game having conceeded at least 2 goals in every league game, in a run that started with the 4-4 visit of Moneys to Binfield back on the August Bank Holiday weekend. They are also on a run of 3 straight defeats in the league.

The visitors come into the game sitting 17th in the Isthmian League South Central Division, just 1 place behind Moneys, but having played 3 games more (10) than Moneys (7) and the same points (8). 2 wins, 2 draws and 6 loses leave them with work to do as this game sees them having completed a quarter of their league season already.

The last two results for Binfield have been 3-2 loses at home to Leatherhead on Tuesday 30th September and away to Hendon on Saturday 27th. ‘The Moles’ welcomed league leaders Leatherhead to the Iconic Stadium for what was sure to be a tough game. Binfield in-fact took the lead. Amari Fashanu had given Binfield a great start, before Leatherhead scored 3 alongside Binfield having Levi Heholt sent off to make the challenge even tougher.

Previously away at Hendon they had come from behind twice, before a late added time winner gave the home side all 3 points. Logan Coles and Ajani Giscombe getting the goals for Binfield.

Before those loses, they did manage to beat Hartley Wintney 2-1 in the Isthmian League Velocity Cup. Goals from Amari Fashanu and Nathanael Boakye saw them progress into the 3rd round of league competition.

Previous Meetings:
This is the second of the two league meetings with Binfield this season having drawn 4-4 back in August. Moneys were 3-0 down, but managed to run away with a point thanks to a debut goal from Tayo Singerr and a hat-trick from Rudi Blankson.

Moneys came away with all 6 points from the two games against Binfield last season though. Glenn Turnbull and co visited the Iconic Stadium as recent as April 5th this year, towards the back end of last season. The trip to Binfield resulted in a late 0-1 victory for Turnbull’s side. Aldershot loanee, Harry Thorpe put away a penalty in the 3rd minute of added time in the second half away, after Cal Laycock was brought down inside the box.

Prior to that, Binfields visit to the John Jenkins stadium, saw a 5-0 win for Moneys with five different goalscorers. First half goals from Cal Laycock, James Franklyn, Harry Thorpe and an added time goal from Tom Cain saw the game wrapped up by half time. Jack Lee added to the tally midway through the second half, to wrap up a 5-star performance back on January 11th.

Ones to Watch:
Dan Lewis: Dan was appointed as Binfield FC captain in the summer of 2023. He scored his first Moles goal, in their FA Cup victory at Wokingham and Embrook, as his deflected shot from 25-yards out found the back of the net. During the 23/24 season, he made the most appearances of any player – 42. He was also Club Player Of The Year at the end of season awards.

Ejiro Abbey: The 18-year-old ex Bracknell Town and Nottingham Forest forward signed for Binfield this summer and has gone onto score twice in his first 5 appearances with his goals coming in away wins to Ascot United and Southall.

Amari Fashanu: The forward has scored 4 goals so far this season, including a goal against Moneys back in August. With 2 in his last 3 games he is in some level of form for a team on a run of losses.
