On Sunday, Moneyfields welcome Bristol City Academy to the John Jenkins Stadium in the FA WNL Plate.
Goalkeeper Mia King has been in impressive form, starting three of the last four matches in all competitions, keeping two clean sheets and earning a Player of the Match award. Earlier in the season, she also recorded a shutout in the cup tie against Ascot United.
The 21-year-old joined Moneyfields in the summer after departing Charlton Athletic Academy, having previously been part of Southampton F.C. Women’s Hampshire Cup-winning squad in the 2023/24 season.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s fixture, King said, “I’ve really enjoyed the opportunity to start. It’s been great to build some consistency and gain more experience at this level. Each game has challenged me differently, but I’ve felt more confident every week.”

Before joining Moneyfields, the young shot-stopper had already gained senior experience with Saltdean United, enjoying two spells at the club — the first earning her a scholarship in the United States in 2022.
Reflecting on her adaptation to senior football, King added, “The jump to senior football has been a big step, but I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. The games are faster and more physical, but I’m learning loads every week and feeling more confident each time I play.”
“I think I’m really starting to find my feet now.”
Over the summer, first-team manager Karl Watson also strengthened the goalkeeping department with the experienced Hannah Haughton joining the squad.
King spoke highly of working with her new teammates and coaches, “It’s been great working with Hannah — she has a wealth of experience that I can learn from. And working with Logan (our goalkeeping coach) has been brilliant too; he pushes me in training and has really helped me develop both technically and mentally.”
Looking ahead to the weekend, King shared what progression in the competition would mean to the squad, “It’d mean a lot to everyone. We’ve been working really hard, and it’d be amazing to have the chance to go for another trophy. To help create a bit of history for the club would be a really special feeling.”
