Moneys:
November starts with the visit of Hanworth Villa to the John Jenkins on Saturday afternoon. ‘The Villains’ are one of just a small handful of teams who Moneys didn’t manage to get a victory over last season, so many who were at the club last season will be itching to fix that with 3 points this weekend.

Moneys come into November having had an incredible October, collecting 19 points from a possible 21, an incredible feat. Despite a smattering of short term and longer term injuries, the team has really pulled together to get over the line in games. Those that have come back from injury like Adam Payce and Rudi Blankson have quickly got back up to speed and blended back into the squad well.

After the disappointment of last weekends draw away at Fareham, Tuesday night under the lights felt like a perfect tonic to uplift feelings and confidence throughout Callum Glen’s side. Moneys never really looked under threat to have their unbeaten October come to an end, as they looked controlled, calm and collected throughout large portions of the game.

Club Captain Tom Cain assisted both goals, demonstrating that the goals really are coming from all angles despite all the in-form fire power up top. Assists, and goals for that matter have come from just about every position outfield, as even centre back Tom Jeffes got in on the act with an almost old school poaching strikers finish against Raynes Park Vale earlier in the month.

There was even a first clean-sheet in four games on Tuesday for Malachi Osei-Owusu, although that was his fourth of the month, having previously shout-out Binfield, Horndean and Bognor Regis Town.

“We’ve all put in so much work over the month, 7 games is a tough ask, to remain unbeaten is pretty ridiculous,” said Moneys Manager Callum Glen after Tuesday nights victory over Bedfont Sports. “My motivation is to push forward, not to look behind, can we just do the same in November and December.”

Hanworth Villa:
Hanworth Villa aka ‘The Villains,’ were formed in 1976. From 1980 the club had a nomadic existence but in 1997 moved to their current headquarters at Rectory Meadow. At last the team had a permanent home and could set about converting an existing pavilion into a clubhouse, which has become known as the ‘Ranch’. With a permanent base, Villa were also able to concentrate on improving the level of football, and in 2002/2003 a notable performance by the Saturday first team was to win ‘the treble’ of the Middlesex County Premier Cup, the Open Cup and the Middlesex County League.

After another Premier League title in 2004/2005, with a record number of points, it was decided to move on and the club were elected to Division 1 of the Combined Counties League in 2005/2006. In the 2008/2009 campaign the team finished second and following a successful ground inspection Hanworth Villa were promoted to the Combined Counties Premier League for the 2009/2010 season.

November 2019 the vacant Managers position was filled by Simon Haughney and his management team of Paul Thomas and Leon Solomon.

The 2022/23 season proved to be the greatest in the history of Hanworth Villa FC and, in winning the inaugural Combined Counties North Premier Division and with it promotion to the Isthmian League. The most remarkable record of all is, however, that the team remained unbeaten throughout the league season.

The 2024/25 season saw Hanworth finish in their highest ever league position in the Non-League pyramid, when they were placed 3rd, behind Champions Farnham Town and Uxbridge, this saw the Villains enter the Play-Offs once again. The Semi-Final saw a home victory over Ascot United but in the final, played away to Uxbridge, the home side rallied to take victory and gain promotion to the Southern League Premier Division.

A very solid start to 2025/26 has seen Villa on the edge of the play-off positions already. They sit currently 6th in the table on 23 points, just 2 points outside those illusive play-off places having played a game less than Hartley Wintney on 25 points and Moneys on 27 points. They’ve had big 3 goal margins of victory already over Harrow Borough and Littlehampton Town, as well as 4 goal margins away from home over the Met Police and Horndean.

Just the two meetings between the two clubs on record as they came in last seasons Isthmian League South Central Division.

In September 2024, Moneys visited Hanworth Villa’s Rectory Meadows home and came away with a point in a 1-1 draw. Tom Cain heading in from a Steve Ramsey cross.

The return fixture came barely 2 months later in November 2024 as ‘the Villains’ visited the John Jenkins. Villa came away with all 3 points in a 2-3 victory. Moneys had come back from 0-1 down to lead 2-1 with goals from James Franklyn and a penalty from Steve Ramsey, but Hanworth came back to win with a 94th minute winner.

Ones to Watch:
Sam Merson: Sam was signed in the summer of 2020 having played previously for St Albans City, Biggleswade Town, Redditch United and Boreham Wood. Sam is the son of former Pompey and Arsenal favourite Paul Merson. The number 9 scored his 100th goal for Villa in February 2025 and ended last season as top goal scorer with 29 goals. He topped off the season by being awarded the Non-League Goal of the Season, having scored a ‘worldie’ against Farnham Town, which brought national media attention to the club. He’s so far scored 8 goals this season, including a hat-trick away to Horndean in a 5-1 victory.

George Wells: Highly experienced central defender, having played in the National League with Maidenhead United and National League South with Slough Town. Not adverse to scoring the odd goal and has one to his name already. Club Captain, often wearing the number 6 jersey.

Ben Geraghty: The former Ashford Town midfielder is in some good form, having scored 3 goals in his last 3 games. He got 2 goals in the home victory against Littlehampton and scored last weekend against Binfield too.
