Second-joint top scorer Meg Fox is looking to build on a positive start to the season as Moneyfields return to league action at home to Keynsham Town Ladies.
The playmaker has surprised many so far this season, scoring six goals in ten appearances from midfield across all competitions.
This is Fox’s third season in yellow and blue. During her time with Moneyfields, she has helped the team win two PDFA Cups and reach the fourth round of the Adobe FA Women’s Cup against current WSL side London City Lionesses.
Speaking about her time at the club, Meg said, “I think ever since I’ve come in, I’ve settled in quite quickly, and the girls were really welcoming.
“When I first came in, compared to now, we’ve just built something really good. I think that definitely helps on the pitch because we back each other up and support each other.
That really helps us succeed — and obviously the coaches as well, putting in some really good work over the last few seasons, which has helped us progress even more.”
Moneyfields currently sit second in the FA Women’s National League Division One South West with 16 points and are yet to lose in league action this season.
Reflecting on the team’s strong start, Meg said, “We’ve started really well. I think in the league especially, we’ve got some really good wins and some really good results.
Unfortunately, the FA Cup didn’t really go our way, but we bounced back the week after, and we’ve all stuck together — which is the main thing.”
When asked about being joint-top scorer, Fox admitted, “I’m actually quite surprised, to be honest. I think I’ve already scored more goals than I did last season — actually, more than in all three seasons I’ve been here! It feels really good.”
The Moneyfields No. 17 is known for her ability to strike the ball from distance, often scoring from outside the box or from free kicks.
Meg added, “It’s always been from past the 18-yard box — I think all my goals have been like that this season. That’s always been one of my strengths, and I’m just happy to keep doing that.”
Looking ahead to Sunday’s home game against Keynsham Town, Meg said, “It’s definitely going to be a physical game — it always is whenever we meet them. Our individual battles are going to be key, and we’re hopefully going to take it to them like we have with every team.”
November is shaping up to be a busy month for Karl Watson’s side. After hosting Keynsham, Moneyfields will visit Maidenhead United in the second round of the FA WNL Plate on November 9th.
They then travel to the Memorial Stadium to face Bristol Rovers on November 16th before finishing the month away at the County Ground against current league leaders Swindon Town on November 30th.
Looking ahead to the packed schedule, Fox added, “November is going to be massive for us. We started the season really well, like I’ve already said, and that’s going to be huge for us going into this month. Bristol Rovers and Swindon have both had really good results, so we’ve just got to take it to them, stick to our Moneyfields DNA, and keep fighting.”
