Moneyfields FC Women are back in league action on Sunday, when they face third in the table Bristol Rovers at the South West Interiors Stadium in a 14:00 kick-off

Karl Watson’s side are currently sat second in the standings on 22 points, three ahead of Rovers, who have accumulated 19 points so far this season.

Moneys come into the game fresh off the back of a dramatic penalty shootout victory away at Maidenhead United in the second round of the FA WNL Plate.

It finished 2-2 after a full 90 minutes and extra time; however, Moneys kept their cool on spot-kicks, winning 5-3 on penalties at York Road, as Watson’s side punched their ticket to the quarter-finals.

Opposition Overview:

The Gas Girls were originally founded in 1998, but due to cuts within the club, they had to be renamed the ‘Bristol Academy’ in 2005.

They were actually then taken over by arch Bristolian rivals – Bristol City in 2016, but Rovers got their status back in 2019, when they re-established themselves as the ‘Gas Girls’ – funded by the Bristol Rovers Community Trust.

Bristol Rovers were also the first-ever league club to partner with Her Game Too (an award-winning campaign tackling sexism in sport) in July 2021, just two months into the organisation’s existence.

In 2025, the Gasheads are managed by Nathan Hallett-Young, who co-founded the club as part of the BRCT with the CEO Adam Tutton and former secretary Matthew Davies, with all three being integral to the Her Game Too campaign.

Rovers were promoted to the fourth tier in the 2023/24 season, when they went up from the South West Regional League as Champions.

Last season, when we faced the Gas, it was two wins out of two for Moneys, with a 4-1 victory at home on January 28th, 2025, and a 2-0 win away at the Memorial Stadium just under a month later in February.
