Having lost back-to-back games for the first time in the league this season, all at Moneys were hoping to get back to winning ways and maintain our position inside the promotion play-off places. There was three changes as Sonny Parkes returned to Woking, whilst Kieran Alcock and Simba Mlambo missed out through injury/illness. They were replaced by a returning Louis Gates, Lawrence Cooper and Adam Payce.
Moneys chugged into an early lead inside 3 minutes, as a fantastic dinked through ball from Adam Payce set James Franklyn through. It took Franko two efforts as the first hit the post but the rebound fell kindly to him to slot it into an empty net.
There was plenty of action and positive play from Moneys as the second half progressed, but it took until 39 minutes for Moneys to extend their lead. It came from a very relaxed attempt at a clearance by the South Park keeper, as Tayo Singerr charged him only for him to kick the ball on to Tayo’s leg and into the goal off of the post! Tayo’s 8th goal in 13 games on loan from Pompey.
Tayo nearly got a second moments before half time as he picked up the ball about 5 yards outside the visitor 18-yard box, turned his defender and fired off a beautiful curling effort that just didn’t quite dip enough, crashing off the cross-bar and back into play.
Half Time – Moneyfields 2-0 South Park Reigate
The visiting management team clearly weren’t happy with what they’d seen in the first half. As the players came out, they made a triple change for the second half!
Faris Khallouqi earned himself a yellow card in the 50th minute for a late challenge which seemed more out of frustration then anything.
A double change was forced in the 69th minute as South Park were growing into the game. Perhaps a smart decision to sub Faris for Rudi Blankson with Khallouqi on a yellow card and more defending needing to be done. Tom Cain also had to go off with a knock and was replaced by Jack Lumsden.
After the unusual sight of a steam train passing the John Jenkins in the 70th minute, the visitors pulled themself level and nearly de-railed Moneys afternoon, all in the space of a little over 60 seconds.
First a header from a corner was nodded in via a deflection by Regan Clarke-Salter. Shortly after, a low cross was converted by Tyrese Briscoe to have all in yellow bamboozled to what had just happened in the last few moments of play.
It wasn’t long though and Moneys had a chance to retake the lead. There was a clumsy hand-ball in the penalty area as the South Park defender was seemingly trying to shield the ball back to his keeper, but gave Moneys a penalty. Rudi Blankson calmly slotted the ball home on 79 minutes.
Only 4 minutes later, James Franklyn sealed the 3 points with a passage of play that began with him winning the ball back from a South Park player. It was all-to-easy from the visiting teams perspective, especially considering it was well inside their half. A quick pass and return of the ball with Paycey, and then Franko steamrolled through South Park’s defence and placed the ball down to the keepers right to get his second of the game.
Full Time – Moneyfields 4-2 South Park Reigate
Back into winning ways and back up to fourth in the league for Moneys, as both Moneys and Hayes & Yeading skipped over Raynes Park Vale who lost at Ascot United. A good confidence boosting win with possibly the toughest test of the season so far next weekend, as Moneys visit second placed, Westfield FC.
