This weekend, Moneyfields Women welcome Leyton Orient to the John Jenkins Stadium as they continue their pre-season campaign.

Following a well-matched contest against FA Women’s National League (FA WNL) Southern Premier side Exeter City last weekend, first team manager Karl Watson will be looking for another strong performance. With the competitive season fast approaching, the squad will aim to gain valuable minutes and build momentum.

Orient, currently play three tiers lower than Moneys but newly appointed first team manager, Jason Stephens has been reshaping his squad by recruiting FA WNL talent from his former Hashtag United side, including Sammy Rowlands, the free scoring former Hashtag United forward and former Adobe Women’s FA Cup golden ball winner is someone Moneys will need to be wary of.

So don’t be deceived into thinking that this will be a straightforward match for Moneys. If the club carry on their current trajectory, then it won’t be long before they are an FA WNL league side in their own right.

Making her Moneyfields debut against Exeter City was winger Daisy Beard. She said, “After being unavailable for the first match of pre-season against Dartford, I was eager to be able to get some minutes on the pitch and show what I can offer the team.

“At this stage of pre-season, especially as a new player, the games can’t come quickly enough. There’s so much quality in this squad, and everyone’s pushing for minutes. I’ll be working hard to stay in the boss’s thoughts ahead of our league opener on August 17th.”

She added, “Once the full-time whistle goes, many of us will be turning our attention to the Euros final between England and Spain. It’s going to be an epic encounter, and while Spain will be the favourites for many, football doesn’t always follow the script and Sarina’s Lionesses are built of strong stuff.”

Join us after the match in the Moneyfields bar, where we’ll be cheering on the Lionesses and hopefully celebrating as the trophy comes home, again!
