Moneyfields achieved their first victory on the road this season, with a dominant three-nil victory at Bristol Road against Portishead Town.

Two first-half goals from Maisie Aldridge and a second-half header from Ali Hall were enough to secure Moneys the three points and their second league victory of the campaign.

Karl Watson made three changes to the side that drew one-all against Ascot in Ashford last weekend, as Kiera Heslam, Amber Howden, and Rose Sitarz dropped out for Dream Surin, Sophie Phelps and Maisie Aldridge.

Moneys started fast and managed to take advantage of their early pressure, when Maisie Aldridge was able to tap home a parried free kick from the Portishead keeper to make it one-nil inside just five minutes.

The pressure continued for Watson’s side, with chances from Sophie Phelps, Bekah Tonks and Meg Fox, but they were unable to double their lead.

However, Moneys managed to win a penalty on the cusp of half-time after a handball from a white shirt in the 18-year-old box, leaving the referee to point to the penalty spot.

Aldridge confidently stood up to the spot and converted the spot kick to double Moneys’ lead and grab a brace to make it 2-0.

At half-time, Watson made one change with Bekah Tonks coming off for Gemma Simmonds ahead of the second half.

Simmonds almost made an instant impact amid her arrival on the pitch; however, the number 23’s effort cracked the crossbar.

There were then an additional two changes made early into the second 45, with Britt Jeal and the goalscorer of the first two goals, Maisie Aldridge, being replaced by Tierney Scott and Shannon Albuery.

Moneys kept on peppering the Portishead net and were eventually rewarded, again It was a Simmonds shot that smashed off the woodwork, and Captain Ali Hall was there to head home the rebound to make it 3-0 just after the 50th minute.

Daisy Beard was the fifth and final sub of the afternoon, with the winger replacing Beth Burgess with just over 20 minutes to go.

Despite having more efforts at goal, Moneys were unable to add a fourth, but managed to stand their ground at the back and achieve a clean sheet, with keeper Hannah Haughton left not having much to do all game.
