Moneyfields book their place in the FA Women’s National League Cup draw with a win over Bournemouth Sports

An opening strike from Daisy Beard and a brace from Tierney Scott sealed victory for Moneyfields in their penultimate Group E fixture of the FA Women’s National League Cup.

The result confirmed Karl Watson’s side a spot in the draw, which will be made live on the FAWNL’s Instagram page at 19:15 on Monday, 29th September.

Moneys finished the group in second place on four points, edging out Ascot United on goal difference. AFC Bournemouth topped the table with a perfect nine, while Bournemouth Sports ended bottom without a point.

From the first whistle, Moneyfields dominated. Full-backs Liv Venditto and Dream Surin both went close before the hosts finally broke through after 14 minutes. Winger Daisy Beard arrived at the back post to tap home her second goal of the season and put Watson’s side in front.

The afternoon soon became all about striker Tierney Scott. After striking the outside of the post, she eventually doubled the lead on 26 minutes with a superbly controlled volley from a Venditto cross, finding the bottom corner past keeper Jess Vallis.

Watson made just one change throughout the 90 minutes, replacing defender Amber Howden with Sophie Phelps in the 51st minute.

Britt Jeal almost added a third just past the hour mark, only for Bournemouth Sports to scramble clear. Seconds later, however, Scott struck again, calmly finishing to claim her brace and put the result beyond doubt.

Gemma Simmonds and Scott both came close to adding further goals, with the latter narrowly missing out on a hat-trick when she fired just over.
