Moneys:
Callum Glen and his side are in a great vain of form and travel to Chichester to face Bognor Regis Town, with 3 wins in the last 4. It will be Moneys first away game in any competition since the end of August, when they drew 4-4 away at Binfield on August 30th. It’s just 4 sleeps on from Saturdays narrow win over Horndean where Glen will be hoping to keep up the two wins from two, that came with two clean sheets as well.

Glen named an unchanged starting XI against Horndean and the decision to do so was justified with another fairly comfortable win. Moneys Manager Callum Glen said of the performance, “first half we were really really good, should have been out of sight really.” But in the second half, “fair play to Horndean, they made it a bit of a scrappy game,” as Moneys had become a little one dimensional and predictable with continued attacks down the one flank.

Nonetheless, the performance was one that left people arguing over about 4 to 5 players for Man of the Match, with Tom Jeffes, Jack Farrier, Ciaran Martin and Simba Mlambo all probably doing enough to be considered. It was however, Max Smith who was chosen by the match’s sponsor (Platinum Restoration) with a very good, controlled performance in the middle of the park.

Moneys of course called Chichester City’s Oaklands Park home themselves for a short while, and even lifted the Wessex Premier League trophy there, back at the end of 2023/24. ‘The Rocks’ are now replicating Moneys with using Chichester City’s home as their temporary home, whilst they have a 4G artificial surface laid at their ground, Nyewood Lane.

Bognor Regis Town:
Bognor similarly are in a good run of form, having won 3 games in 7 days last week. They are however only two league games without defeat, as they lost back on 27th September to Hanworth Villa. It’s a good turn around in form, having had a ‘rocky’ start to life at Step 4, after only winning 1 of their first 8 games in the Isthmian South Central Division.

Before their triple header game week, ‘the Rocks’ brought in 3 new faces in an attempt to support turning around their season. Experienced goalkeeper Dan Lincoln was brought back to the club for a second stint, having helped Truro City gain promotion to the National League just last season. They also brought in Zambian striker Kashanga Kasukumya after being released by AFC Bournemouth and central defender Liam Wood, previously of Manchester outfit North Walkden.

Whilst they brought in 3 players, 3 left in the form of former Dorking Wanderers keeper Slav Huk, defender Ryan Thomas and regular goalscorer, Nick Dembele.

Kasukumya was the star of the show on his debut as he was awarded Man of the Match. It was however former Moneys front-man Cal Laycock and former Pompey Academy player Lee Seok-Jae who scored the goals as they beat Ascot United 2-1 back on Sunday 5th October.

Two weekend games were sandwiched by a midweek cup fixture against lower league opposition in the form of Loxwood. Kasukumya got two, whilst skipper Chad Field, full-back Matt Jones and Billy Allcock got a goal each, as Bognor progressed in the Sussex Transport Senior Cup Second Round tie.

Last weekend ‘the Rocks’ had undoubtedly their best matchday of the season, as they eased past Hendon 1-4 at Hendon’s Silver Jubilee Park. Laycock this time got two goals with Billy Allcock and Lee Seok-Jae getting a goal each. The victory took them up to 17th and just outside the relegation zone for the first time since the end of August.

Previous Meetings:
This is already the reverse fixture of the league season, with Moneys having come from 2 goals down to win 3-2 back on September 16th. Goals from Nick Dembele and Cal Laycock were made irrelevant by goals for Moneys from Rudi Blankson, Faris Khallouqi and a wonderstrike by Louis Gates.

The only two previous meetings in recent memory came in the form of 2 pre-season friendlies. Moneys hosted Bognor at the beginning of last season at the John Jenkins where Bognor came out 1-3 winners. The previous friendly was back in 2015, when Moneys were 2-0 victors on the day.

Ones to Watch:
Callum Laycock: After scoring on the opening game of the season in the 4-5 win over AFC Portchester, Laycock went 4 games without a goal. He has now however got 4 in his last 4 league games, so has found his form that Moneys fans know all too well. Laycock netted 17 times for Moneys just last season as Moneys established themselves at Step 4.

Lee Seok-Jae: As already mentioned above, the former Pompey Academy player has also been in good form. 2 in his last 2 league games and 3 overall. The forward has plenty of higher league experience, having turned out for Gosport Borough, Worthing, Havant & Waterlooville and Chichester City since leaving Pompey.

Billy Allcock: The midfielder has featured in all 10 league games, only failing to start once. He got two goals on the opening day of the season against AFC Portchester and then scored 1 of the teams 4 goals against Hendon. Allcock spent last season at Horndean where he got 6 goals in 40 league appearances.
