Tonight, Moneyfields Women take to the pitch for the final time this season, as they face AFC Portchester in a repeat of last year’s PDFA Cup Final at Havant & Waterlooville FC’s Westleigh Park.

Moneyfields enter the fixture following a record-breaking league campaign, achieving their highest-ever league finish and points tally since the club’s formation in 2017. They’ll be hoping to end the season on a high by lifting the PDFA Cup once again.

In last year’s final, Moneyfields secured a 2-0 win at the same venue. Goals from Kau’inohea Solomon-Taylor and Megan Fox sealed a confident victory for Karl Watson’s side. The two teams met again earlier this season in the Hampshire Cup Quarter Final, where Moneys came out 3-1 winners, with goals from Shannon Albuery and a brace from Lucy Cooper.

Watson’s side will be aiming to bounce back quickly after a narrow 3-2 defeat to Swindon Town in their final league outing. After falling 3-0 behind early in the second half, Moneyfields launched a spirited comeback through two goals from Charley Wilson-Wilton, who nearly capped her final appearance at the John Jenkins Stadium with a hat-trick.

The clash against Swindon was a fiery affair, with the visitors ending the match with nine players following a red card for a dangerous challenge on Albuery and a second yellow for dissent. Despite late pressure and multiple substitutions, Moneyfields fell just short of a dramatic comeback.

Tonight’s match could see reunions with several former Moneys players now at Portchester, including Natalie Bavister, Mia Adaway, Samantha Jennings, and April Hill, who may feature for the opposition.
