We are Moneyfields FC Women, an ambitious and rapidly growing football team based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. As part of the broader Moneyfields Football Club, we’ve been gaining significant momentum in recent years, driven by the dedication and passion of our first-team manager, Karl Watson.
Since our inception in 2017, we have steadily climbed the women’s football pyramid, earning promotions in the Hampshire FA Women’s Leagues and the Southern Region Women’s Leagues.
In May 2022, after two seasons disrupted by COVID-19, we achieved a major milestone—securing promotion to the FA Women’s National League South West Division One, the fourth tier of women’s football. This was a defining moment in our journey.
The 2023/24 season was one to remember. We captured national attention by reaching the fourth round of the prestigious Women’s FA Cup. Our remarkable run saw us featured on BBC’s Football Focus, the BBC Sport website, and in The Guardian. We faced a tough challenge against FA Women’s Championship side London City Lionesses, who won 4-0, but the experience only strengthened our determination.
Following our FA Cup run, we bounced back in the league, finishing an impressive third in the table, behind AFC Bournemouth and Exeter City, both with significant financial backing. To top off the season, we lifted the PDFA Cup, securing a 2-0 victory over AFC Portchester at Westleigh Park and adding another trophy to our growing collection.
Off the pitch, we are committed to developing the next generation of players. Our Mini Moneys program is a non-competitive initiative designed to introduce young girls to football. Whether they’re new to the game or looking for a team to play with, Mini Moneys is all about having fun, making friends, and fostering a love of football. This initiative is a key part of our mission to create pathways for young players to progress into the first team.
With a strong foundation, a passionate fan base, and a clear vision for the future, we are building something truly special in women’s football.
