Moneyfields FC Women are delighted to announce the signing of promising young talent Daisy Beard from Southampton FC.
Beard joins the club after an impressive seven-year spell with the Saints’ academy, most recently becoming a key figure in their Under-21 squad. Her time at Southampton culminated in winning the Hampshire Cup, where she helped guide the team to a 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth in the final.
Speaking about her move, Daisy expressed her excitement at beginning this new chapter, “I can’t wait, honestly. I’m so excited to get started. I’m looking forward to the step up into women’s football, the more competitive and physical environment is exactly what I’ve been craving.”
Having already trained with Moneyfields at the end of last season, Beard was quickly impressed by the ambition and intensity within the squad, “The vibe was amazing. Every session was at 100% with the team pushing for promotion, and that’s the kind of atmosphere I want to be part of. I enjoy winning and want to help drive the team forward.”
Reflecting on her success with Southampton, Beard is eager to bring a winning mentality to her new club. “I’m competitive and I hate losing — that drive is something I want to bring to Moneyfields. I want to be a motivating force on the pitch and help push us toward our goals.”
First team manager, Karl Watson added, “Daisy is a talented young player who I believe has all the qualities needed to succeed at National League level. She’s come through an excellent setup at Southampton, and we’re excited to continue her development here at Moneyfields. I’m confident she can make a real impact as she already possesses that winning mentality that we demand from all of our squad.”
Daisy will be hoping to make her debut during our pre-season programme, starting with Exeter City at the John Jenkins Stadium on Sunday, July 20th (KO 2pm).
