Emma Moody

Biography

Emma Moody’s football journey began at the age of five, playing for her primary school and South Park FC as the only girl in a mixed league. With no local girls’ teams available at the time, she briefly turned to athletics before a surprise call from Beecholme Belles reignited her football path—as a goalkeeper. She went on to play for Redhill Ladies and Horley Town Ladies, where she discovered her love for playing outfield. During her final year of college, she joined Crystal Palace Ladies (coincidentally alongside current teammate Kim Fuller), before continuing her football at Cambridge University, earning a Blue, and later with Great Shelford WFC. After a break from football due to work commitments, she returned to the game with Southampton Saints Ladies, and when the club folded, she joined Moneyfields for the 2019/20 season—thanks to Karl, who sealed the deal with a drink at the pub.

Since joining Moneyfields, Emma has seen the club evolve significantly, especially with the development of the John Jenkins Stadium and the team’s transition to semi-professional status. Despite these changes, the core culture—what Karl calls the “Money’s DNA”—remains strong. Emma highlights the FA Cup fourth-round clash with London City Lionesses as a standout moment and jokes that she’s scored too many screamers to recall her first goal. She credits Karl with giving her the freedom to play her style and pushing her to take on multiple roles on the pitch. As for the future, she’s aiming for a league title and hopes the team’s spirit continues to thrive. Being named Manager’s Player of the Year twice, she says, is a reflection of the consistent effort she gives every time she steps onto the pitch.
